Overview
Schiavello Furniture is a leading Australian designer and manufacturer of premium office furniture and interior fit-out solutions. The brief was to evolve their installation manuals into a clear, consistent and visually refined system that supported qualified tradespeople on site, while still aligning with Schiavello’s high design standards.
The Challenge
Schiavello required multiple installation manuals to be produced across a growing product range. Existing documentation needed to be standardised, simplified and made easier to follow in real-world construction environments, without losing alignment with the brand’s premium aesthetic.
The work also needed to scale efficiently across teams and future products.
Solution
I implemented a structured project workflow and template system that allowed multiple manuals to be produced in parallel without duplication or misalignment.
The design approach focused on clarity first, using minimal, well-paced layouts, clear diagrams and consistent visual language that supported fast comprehension on site, while still reflecting Schiavello’s refined brand.
What I Did
-
Led the overall creative direction and structure of the installation manual system
-
Designed a modular template system to ensure consistency across all manuals
-
Established a clear visual hierarchy to improve readability and reduce on-site confusion
-
Worked closely with internal teams and stakeholders to manage multiple booklets concurrently
-
Balanced brand refinement with practical, trade-friendly usability
-
Oversaw production workflows to ensure accuracy, consistency and efficiency
Project Outcome
The final installation manuals delivered a clear, scalable system that improved usability for qualified tradespeople and reduced friction during installation. Internally, the new templates and workflow made it easier for teams to manage updates and future product additions.
The result was a set of manuals that balanced precision, clarity and brand quality, aligning with Schiavello’s reputation for considered design and craftsmanship.
